Gaye ReynoldsRecreation Therapist

My journey into the healthcare field began as a teenager when I volunteered at a local hospital in the physical therapy and pediatric departments.  I really enjoyed working with the patients!  The idea of being a part of the team that is helping the most vulnerable people in our society to transform their lives and connect to the feeling of joy again, piqued my interest in Recreation Therapy.

With this goal in mind, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Therapy.  I began my career by using my newly developed skills to target ineffective behavior patterns in children.  I also developed strategic programs for the geriatric population, aimed at achieving maximum independence and engagement.  I also tailored therapeutic recreation modalities to create fun and meaningful activities to help those with reduced cognitive function as well as people who were suffering from depression.

I know that no two people are alike, and that everyone needs a customized approach in order to benefit from recreation therapy.  Addressing each person’s unique needs is at the very core of contributing to the positive transformation of my clients’ lives.  I love that I get to use my well-honed skills to help our clients enjoy in fun, enriching, and joyful activities every day!
